Near Infrared Absorbers
INFRARED LIGHT
Sunlight is more than what we see. Alongside visible light (400–700 nm), which makes up about 43% of solar energy, it also contains ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) radiation. IR light (700–2500 nm) accounts for the largest share—around 52%—and while invisible, we feel it as heat. This heat can build up in buildings and vehicles, increasing energy use for cooling.
Infrared-absorbing materials offer a smart solution. By reducing heat before it enters, they help cut energy consumption and environmental impact. IR light also plays a key role in industry—speeding up heating, drying, and manufacturing processes.
Creating effective IR-absorbing materials requires advanced chemistry. Inorganic metallic oxides are ideal, as their structure can be tuned to interact with IR radiation. Through lattice modifications or mixed-valence oxides, we can engineer materials tailored for specific applications.
IRASORB NIR Absorber Product Range
Our Near-Infrared (NIR) absorbers are engineered for precision and efficiency. Each product consists of agglomerated nanoparticles in dark blue colours, optimized for superior optical and thermal performance.
With primary particle sizes typically in the 10–50 nm range, these absorbers enable the formulation of transparent coatings and films without sacrificing functionality. By dispersing the agglomerated powders into their primary particles, you achieve a high degree of clarity while maintaining exceptional NIR absorption.

IRASORB Performance
NIR Absorbing Oxides – Tailored Performance for Every Application
Each product in our NIR absorber portfolio is engineered with a unique performance profile to meet specific application needs:
StanoStat CPM10F
A long-established infrared absorber offering an excellent cost-to-performance ratio. Known for its outstanding thermal and chemical stability, this material requires a specialized dispersion approach for optimal results.
IRASORB BITO
The ideal choice when colour neutrality is critical. IRASORB BITO enables the production of almost colourless coatings and films while delivering excellent IR absorption, ensuring aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand.
IRASORB CTOM10
Our most efficient NIR absorbing oxide, featuring a cut-off wavelength of approximately 900 nm. Its key advantage lies in high dispersibility in polymers without additional dispersion additives, allowing the creation of highly transparent films and sheets with superior infrared blocking.
